FAQ
1. What window frame materials are available?
We offer thermal-break aluminium, uPVC, and timber window frames. Aluminium is slim, durable, and low-maintenance. uPVC is cost-effective and well-insulated. Timber adds character but requires more upkeep and typically outlasts uPVC by decades.
2.What is Low-E glass and do I need it?
Low-E (low emissivity) glass has a microscopic coating that reflects heat and blocks UV rays, reducing solar heat gain and protecting interior furnishings from fading. It is strongly recommended for hot climates or east/west facing windows with strong sun exposure.
3.Is double glazing worth the extra cost?
For most climates, yes. Double glazing significantly improves thermal insulation and acoustic performance, reducing energy bills and noise. It also reduces condensation on interior glass surfaces. The payback in comfort and energy savings typically justifies the upfront cost.
4.Can windows be custom sized to fit existing openings?
Yes. Provide the rough opening dimensions (width x height) and we will manufacture to fit. It’s important to measure at multiple points as old openings are often not perfectly square — we recommend measuring width and height at three points each.
5.How do I know if my existing windows need replacing?
Key signs include difficulty opening or closing, visible condensation between glass panes (seal failure), draughts around the frame, faded furnishings near the window (UV penetration), and visibly rotting or cracked frames. Any of these indicate it’s time to replace.
